Expecting Twins [Leandri & Christiaan] | Cape Town Maternal Photographer

It’s more or less a year ago that I did this maternity shoot for Leandri & Christiaan.  I also had the privilege to capture the birth / first moments of their beautiful twins in January this year and shortly after that did a newborn shoot of the two princesses.

The light at the beach that day was breathtaking, but the love and friendship between this couple is what made me love their images so much that I felt like re-blogging them today, more or less a year later.

I’ve said this before but I think these images proves my thinking on this:  I do not create beauty I simply capture it as it flutters by my lens. People make their own magic.  Read more about Love Alda Maternity session here.

And Then They Were Three

I’ve known Charlotte since her intern days as a marketing executive.  Back then she and Matthew were still dating, but we all knew that one day this special couple would get married.  They did – and my husband and I were there to witness this special occasion.

Fast forward a couple of years: Today Charlotte is a mom.  We don’t see each other that often anymore, but it was so special to follow Charlotte’s journey from a tiny little growing bump to finally meeting their beautiful little girl and falling in love with her on a daily basis via facebook.

I finally got to meet her little princess when I did their family shoot for them a couple of months ago.  The couple that met me at the park were the same young couple from years back, and yet they were different.  They had a beautiful maternal glow.

Celebrate a new life with me!

Baby-bunnies

The habit to celebrate the birth of a child started years ago in Dublin, Ireland when one rainy day my friend mentioned that their friend’s baby girl had just been born.  My own children were still a wish upon a star, but the idea of this new life starting and recognising the moment it all began for her (even though I did not know her or her parents) filled me with a feeling of hope and joy.

Family – Maternity Session

“Like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, but our roots remain as one.”  This weekend’s maternity session reminded me of this quote – of family.  Family is where life begins and love never ends. And at the heart of it is always a woman.  Over the years I have learned how important family is to me, but also that family is not always blood.  It’s about the people in your life who want to be there.  The ones who love you for who you are and care for the things and people that are important to you.

Mom-my

Mom-myHave you ever noticed that ‘mommy’ spells ‘my mom backwards’?  Neither have –  I until I wrote this blog this evening.  Seeing that Mother’s Day is around the corner I thought I’d pay tribute to moms and their daughters tonight and what better way than with the beautiful safari bath time shoot I did with Celeste and her little girl.  The bond between mom and daughter was so evident as they played in the last golden rays before sunset.
